Job Description:

In this role, you will be required to:

  • Handle the procurement operations for all direct materials as per the companys requirements
  • Be responsible for sourcing and maintaining key vendor relationships and supplier interaction in order to achieve the best results by means of negotiation.
  • Explore and consider alternative and additional products that could be supplied by our suppliers
  • Conduct due diligence on potential suppliers and their product ranges
  • Be responsible for the full spectrum of purchasing functions
  • Source, select and negotiate with suppliers to strive for the best commercial and delivery terms
  • Evaluate suppliers quotations to ensure compliance with technical and commercial specifications
  • Negotiate with suppliers for higher quality product and price discounts
  • Ensure the company does not become reliant on specific suppliers by ensuring that alternative suppliers are always available
  • Advise and liaise with company executives as to issues regarding purchasing contracts and any other issues as necessary regarding the procurement operations
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the procurement function (planning, issuing and following up on purchase orders, delivery and shipment schedules)
  • Manage the purchasing cycle including requests for quotation, PO creation, PO follow up, goods receipt and supplier billing
  • Resolve supply, quality, service and invoicing issues with suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality standards, delivery time, price and compliance with our requirements
  • Prepare data or reports to support purchase strategy and cost down analysis
  • Implement internal procurement strategies to cater to high delivery and short lead time requirements
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and improve quality and service while meeting companys goals and objectives and work closely with the procurement team and other staff to ensure these measures are achieved


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Have at least 15+ years of experience within a similar organization, with much (if not all) of this time in an FMCG environment
  • Have sourcing, purchasing and vendor management experience
  • Be degree educated
  • Be a fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Be highly computer literate
  • An excellent negotiator
  • Be very commercially and economically minded
  • Be extremely fluent with numbers
  • Have a strong understanding of the commodity market
  • Be detail oriented
  • Have high energy, a great attitude and be willing to go the extra mile to deliver.
